Sunday Silliness

Silly Songs With Simple Chords
C and G7

Cows in the kitchen, moo moo moo,
Pigs in the pantry, grunt oink ooh,
Lambs on the landing, baa baa boo,
Skip to my Lou my darling.

There’s a horse in the hallway, neigh neigh neigh,
A donkey in the doorway, bray bray bray,
Ducks and chicks in the chairs all day,
Skip to my Lou my darling.

Get all these animals out of this place,
They make a lot of noise, they take a lot of space,
There’s no room left for me or you,
Can’t skip to the loo, you can’t get through.

  1. Oh thanks Tasker. I never did remember all the lyrics to that one...

    1. So, despite being the role model who made me look at AI image generation, it wasn't you who telepathically put the words after the cows and pigs in my head.

  2. That made me smile, so thank you:-)

    1. It was fun selecting the images from the choices generated by Bing.

  3. Hardly surprising, I am unfamiliar with this song, but "Sunday Silliness" certainly fits this post :-)
Funnily enough, I have been preparing my weekly post this morning, and it contains a picture with the caption "Just some silliness on the way home". Seems like silliness is widespread these days. Rather that than the awfulness we see on the news all the time.

    1. Skip To My Lou is an American partner swapping (!) dance ("I'll get another one just like you"), "Lou" being an old Scottish words for love. They sing the cows and pigs verses here at nursery schools, but I thought it ought to have more lines, and a pun.

    1. It's astonishing what AI imaging can produce.

    1. Wait until those animals find their way into your polytunnel.

  7. I missed the 'can't skip to the loo' part, and was studying that picture trying to figure out why his pants looked funny. Never mind. Got it now. The world needs more silly. Thanks!

  8. Now I'm wondering, is it really Skip to My Lou or Skip to the Loo?

    1. Apparently, Lou is an old Scottish word for love, and the song accompanies an American dance in which partners are changed. See Judy Garland in Meet Me In St. Louis https://youtu.be/_ywr15C7eLM although that takes liberties with the tune.

  9. I never expected this blogpost to end with a Tory M.P. exposing himself to a bunch of animals! Is it Jacob Rees-Mogg?

    1. Yes, but I had better not ask for contributions. Some of the commentators here would require censorship.

    1. You could waste the whole day playing with AI image generators, and a whole sleepless night making up rhymes.
