A short video from the infra-red camera last night.
It reminds me of a series of sketches from the British TV comedy show Little Britain. They showed a wheelchair user who would get up and do the pole vault in an athletics stadium, or dive into a swimming pool and do a couple of quick
lengths whilst his carer wasn’t watching. I believe wheelchair users loved it.
I think this mouse must have been watching that. Black Kitty hasn’t a clue.
The hedgehogs are back, too (emerges from behind the plant pot half way through).
F must be as blind as kitty - hasn't seen the mouse either. Did see the hedgehog (and a few moths). We wish we had put a camera like that in our backyard (although where we lived it was just as likely to catch oiks in low-hanging sweat pants clambering over fences as a hedgehog snuffling along the bottom of one).

DeleteI loved "Little Britain," though I think some of the humor has recently been deemed politically incorrect. I wish we had hedgehogs in our garden, but I've never seen one.

DeleteFascinating video, were there two mice, cat had probably gone to sleep well fed. Do you feed the hedgehogs?
ReplyDeleteWe made a hedgehog feeding box that hedgehogs could get in but not cats, but the camera last year showed mice ate more than hedgehogs, so we haven't this year. But just to the left of the picture is a 15x10 feet patch of very long grass and daffodil leaves with lots of snails and frogs. Snails eat hedgehog biscuits too. I'm not sure whether it was one or two mice, or whether one was indeed a moth as someone suggests.

ReplyDeleteThat's Black Kitty who lives at the back and is out at night because she has a cat flap. She wouldn't dare come when our cat Phoebe is out. Phoebe wouldn't be any better at catching the mice though, but that's O.K. because they are field mice not house mice.

ReplyDeleteMurine! What a good word. Someone said that if you have mice in the kitchen, not to worry about the mouse turds because you can see those, you only have to worry about the pee - the murine urine.
