I would have loved one of these cameras when I was ten. I could have fixed it to a lamp post or telegraph pole to check up on Geoffrey Bullard. Even better, a drone. I used to dream of having a remote-controlled model aeroplane with a camera so I could make sure he wasn’t hanging around looking for bullying opportunities before I went out.
Anyway, back to the cats. Who, after all, does not delight in pictures of cats (apart from Geoffrey Bullard)?
Phoebe is not actually a visitor because she lives here and does not go out at night. Little Black Kitty lives in the house at the back where she climbs up and sits on the upstairs window sill looking superior. Long Legs lives next-door-but-one. We have never seen any of the others in daytime and have no idea where they live. I do like Stripey Cat. He is wonderful and will have a major role in the hedgehog update video. As will Long Legs.

One other regular visitor, Ginger George, has not apparently been in the night recently. He is easily mistaken for Phoebe, even by us sometimes, but bigger. He’s the sort that sneaks into other cats’ houses to steal their food. He once squeezed in through our kitchen window. Completely fearless. The neighbours come round here to complain and blame Phoebe.
You have no idea how much I had to struggle with the html to set this out like this.
Good job on the photo placement, Tasker! I love cats. Your nighttime selection is showcase quite a few 'feline friends'. Phoebe and George do look similar in the photo provided. I could see how they could be confused for one another!
ReplyDeleteThe black ones could be confused too, but the camera shows their differences.
DeleteOoooo, ominous foreshadowing about Stripey Cat, Long Legs and hedgehogs.
ReplyDeleteSuspense!
DeleteWouldn't it be fun if we had a few of the gadgets we have now, when we were kids! I don't know who Geoffrey Bullard is but something tells me you would have gotten even with him!
ReplyDeleteI love all the night cat pictures. You have a popular cat yard or else a trail goes through it. Phoebe is a pretty young lady, maybe these others are gentlemen callers! I'm looking forward to the hedgehog video along with the cat suporting cast.
I was surprised how many cats there are. As regards GB, I was strongly reminded of him by pictures of Harvey Weinstein.
DeleteThose eyes!
ReplyDeleteMy uncle had a night-time camera set up near his stack of firewood a few years ago. The variety of wildlife passing through was great, at one stage he had an enitre family of weasels coming through, with three or four little ones playing hide and seek in the wood pile.
No weasels here. It would be us going pop if some of those turned up.
DeleteI would have liked one of those cameras when I was 10 too.
ReplyDeleteWhat would you have done with it?
DeleteHide it in my sisters' bedroom I expect. I was a solitary child...
DeleteI want one of those cameras now. I would live to see if we have any hedgehogs in our garden
ReplyDelete...love to see.....
DeleteIf you live to see the next post here, I'll include brief details of the camera.
DeleteI would suggest, Jaycee, that if you have hedgehogs in your garden you would have seen them by now. I have hedgehogs and they are often out during the day time, and if not, they are very active in the evening just before it gets dark.
DeleteThe other sign is that they leave dark coloured poo on the lawn and around the edges.
Deletesausage like but larger than rat poo ;) The time of year when I get angry with cats and their killing of young birds. I wonder what cats think wandering in the nocturnal hours, my little feral kitten is causing havoc to the birds.
DeleteThe night camera shows all kinds of things happening in our gardens as we sleep. The wandering cats see most of it. If only they could tell us or blog about it.
DeleteI know what you mean about laying the blame at the wrong door - a variety of cats come through my garden (I don't own one - too busy a road) and I know most of them - where they live and their names (yes, I am nosey, I ask) - but one lady has seven cats and everybody blames them for any 'incident'.
ReplyDeleteLong Legs's owner was quite annoyed. As if cats are controllable anyway.
DeleteThose cats look good.
ReplyDeleteHypnotically beautiful.
DeleteI wondered who Geoffrey Bullard was - imagining he might have been related to the footballer Jimmy Bullard who played for Hull City. However, I have discovered that Geoffrey Bullard is a writer with his very own website. His strapline is "Stories from a Life Well Lived" and my favourite story is called "Flushing Tasker's Head Down The Bog". Very funny. To see his website go here:-

Not that Geoffrey Bullard, or any other Geoffrey Bullard, nor is he related to Jimmy Bullard. But putting other boys' heads down the bog and pulling the chain was exactly the kind of activity he enjoyed.
DeleteI do know what trouble you had with the html and those pictures. I do like the descriptive names the cats of your acquaintance have. I've literally supported dozens of cats in my life, and the only ones with descriptive names were probably identical brothers, one with an extra toe. Their names were Toe Toe and No Toe.
ReplyDeleteI like when you post your cat on your blog, and the activity tree. We don't know their real names (except ours) so have to make them up (like we do for the neighbours when we don't know their names).
DeleteBlogger normally does everything for you when laying out images, but for anything different such as side by side images with captions, you have to edit the html table. The problem is that if you try to do it in the Blogger editor, it auto saves half way through, tells you your html is incomplete, and automatically inserts loads of code that messes everything up. In the end I copied the html for the whole page into notepad and did it in there.
