Blocked!

Isn’t it irritating when a blogger blocks you simply for questioning his rather biased and inflammatory political posts through polite and reasoned comment? Suppress all dissent! I didn’t even disagree entirely. Shame because otherwise he writes quite interesting posts. I suppose I will have to unfollow him.

Postscript

Sunday, 8th September. He has now moved on to another post and I have unfollowed him, but emboldened by the nothing but supportive comments below here are links to some of the posts I take issue with [LINKS NOW REMOVED - SEE BELOW]. He refuses to engage in any discussion of his one-sided arguments based on twisted evidence taken out of context. I find some of these views offensive but here are the links and you can decide for yourself [LINKS NOW REMOVED - SEE BELOW]:

Post Postscript

Friday, 27th September. Links removed because the whole blog has now been made private by the owner. He must have had a lot of grief from a lot of people.

  1. I didn't know you could block someone, how do you do that then? There's one I would like to block but never found a way to do it.

    1. Hi Queeny - See reply to Tom, below.

    2. Ah. I see. My problem is that I allow Anonymous because so many people don't have accounts anywhere. But in doing that it allows the riffraff trolls to infiltrate the blog. I must admit it isn't a big problem, I am now feeling sorry for my troll because they must have a pretty awful life.

    3. I don't know how Anonymous finds the time to make so many comments.

  2. Who blocked you and how did they do it? There are a few I would love to block (not you) but I discovered that Google had disabled this facility quite some time ago.

    1. He's on WordPress so can block people using a tool called Akismet which now blocks my comments on his blog as spam. Don't want to name names but his current post (see my blog list on the right) is titled Traitors Britain.

    2. Ah, Wordpress. That would explain it.

  3. Yeah, over here on Blogger we only can yell at each other, and threaten, and quit each other, and start up again, and see our faces take over the head of the line, in shame, for not sticking it.

    1. You can moderate all comments. I'd find that a pain because soemtimes I don't look here for several days.

  4. I have a hard time taking anyone seriously who refers to someone or something as 'evil'.

    1. Inflammatory, as I said, and an insult to any Labour member or voter. You ought to see his earlier posts about Brexit! You could say Trump has connections with North Korea because he's held talks, which is the kind of half-fact being used, except that it argues the 'wrong' way.

  5. Isn't communicating with others one of the reasons why we blog in the first place?
Blocking someone should only be the last resort, for instance if that person was leaving obscene or racist comments etc. The only comments I delete (without further comment!) on my blog are the spam ones. But then again, I hardly ever post anything that could spark controversial comments - I am far too boring for that.

    1. You don't have to be controversial to be interesting. As regards the blocker, one has to suspect either the motives or the sanity of someone who posts one-sided polemic based on slippery statements and then blocks all questions and disagreement.

  6. I admit that I write "rather biased and inflammatory political posts" but I didn't deliberately block you! It was an accident. My finger slipped on the keyboard. Please don't "unfollow" me. You are one of my favourite stalkers.

    1. But I agree with your "rather biased and inflammatory political posts" because I've been a member of that "evil" political party for many years and even voted for Jez.

  7. I was once blocked for daring to reply to an American blogger (who had asked for everyone's opinion) that since I am Canadian and raised on British style chocolate that I - and my friends - found Hershey's chocolate to be rather waxy tasting! Talk about a bit thin skinned! Sometimes you just have to laugh! :-)

    1. Cadburys has gone downhill since they were taken over. I've just discovered that one effect of being blocked on the one particular blog is that my comments on other WordPress blogs using my WordPress ID are not notified to the recipient - I can still comment on other blogs but the bloggers won't know unless they look because they won't get a message.

  8. It is not just a simple matter of whether you like or don't like something someone said. It can go much deeper than that.

    1. I suspect that because of the content the guy had lots of offensive comments and he blocked me along with the rest. It's still irritating, though, because I was careful to be reasonable and polite.

    2. No need to go over the top about his blog. It is his blog and his prerogative how he deals with it. You do protesteth too much methinks.

    3. Probably true but I was annoyed by the rude way he dealt with my comments. He said I was a Marxist [I'm not] who deflects rather than addresses the points, then blocked me so I couldn't. If his intention was to inform his effect is the opposite because I've stopped following him now.

  9. I was recently banned from the blog Equus Asinus, which belongs to an expat Brit keeper of donkeys in Spain. I made a little joke about Cardinal Pell and offence was taken. EA believes Pell to be innocent and will not tolerate comments that disagree with this, apparently. All I said was that Pell would have plenty of time for reading in jail.

    1. That is very funny and probably true.

    2. As the supportive comments above all say, how can you expect to be taken seriously if you won't engage in debate. I'm now going to look for Equus Asinus and make a comment.

    3. Oh dear, he's closed comments on that particular post and doesn't seem to have a comment box on the others. Pillock!

  10. I wonder why Pell is regarded as innocent and Prince Andrew guilty (in his latest rant).

    1. It's better than the online comments section of The Daily Mail! That would be a great question to ask him if only he had any interest in what others thought about his deliberations. I'd love to see Equus Asinus discuss Brexit with buddhawalksintoawinebar.blog seeing they have opposite views.

I welcome comments and hope to respond within a day or two, but my condition is making this increasingly difficult. Some days I might not look here at all. Also please note that comments on posts over 7 days old will not appear until they have been moderated.
